This specification describes generally the arrangement, equipment and standards of materials and components for the Floating Hotel.
The Floating Hotel fulfills in the specification given requirements for a comlete accommodation system, including living-, restaurant-, sanitary-, office-, public-, service-, engine-, store-, and kitchen spaces.

The vessel is designed and built in accordance with the rules of:
- National Swedish Administrations of Shipping and Navigation of machinery spaces.
- International Convention For Safety of Life At Sea (SOLAS) 1974, where applicable.
- International Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate.
- National Regulations for Tonnage Measurement.
Above regulation requirements do not involve possible notations which foreign national or local authorities might have at the future mooring site.
The Vessel is designed for operation in sheltered waters and/or moored along a quayside or pier. For offshore use, the unit can be floated onto and fixed to an oceangoing offshore deck barge, subject to statutory requirements.

The hull is a flat top steel barge, on which an accommodation deckhouse is arranged.
The Hotel is fitted with about 160 rooms with showers and toilets. The barge is equipped with necessary towing arrangements . The barge has two continuous steeldecks, tanktop and maindeck. Below the tanktop double bottom tanks are used for ballast water, bunker, drain water and bilge etc. Between the tanktop and maindeck the space is arranged with machinery rooms, control room, workshop, garbage disposal, provision and stores, preparation rooms, laundry and a void space (abt. 650 m2), which easily could be converted to a nightclub, offices etc.
The deckhouse is located on pillars evenly distributed on the main deck. The space in between forms a closed cofferdam abt. 950mm high with access through a number of manholes at all sides for easy access and maintanence.

Ten changing rooms are arranged, two on each deck, with one locker for each person. Showers, hand washbasins and toilets are arranged in connection with the changing rooms.
One laundry on barge level with washing machines, dry tumbles etc. in three lines fully equipped to cater for full service.
Linen stores and cleaning lockers
A Central Linen Store is arranged close to the Laundry. From this Store the Linen will be transported to the Clean Linen Stores, two on each deck.
There are two cleaning lockers situated on each floor for storage and handling of cleaning equipment.
There are three elevators serving all floors and one elevator for provision between kitchen and provision stores.

Separator sewage into one solid and one liquid phase.
The liquid is chemically treated to kill bacteria and form a clear liquid and sludge. The liquid is then discharged overboard, the sludge and solid phase is delivered to the incinerator plant. The Sanitary discharge can also be pumped directly into an existing system on shore.
All rooms are equipped with fire alarm system of type smoke and heat detection and arranged in accordance with regulations. Alarm panels are arranged in engine control with repeater panel adjacent to the Reception.
Fire fighting system, see section 5.4.
The entire accommodation quarters are protected by an automatic water sprinkle system, including all cabins.
Fresh water supply is provided through a circulating piping system with one pump constantly running and with orrificed return to F.W. tank. Filters and sterilisers are built in after circulation pumps. One pump as stand-by.
Hot water (60 degr.C) to accommodation, galley etc through heat exchanger from engine cooling system or boiler in boiler room and 45KW electric heater.
The discharge water is divided in two systems, one grey water and one black water system.
The grey water comes form all showers, wash basins, laundry and kitchen and is discharged into one of three grey water tanks by gravity. The grey water tanks are situated in the double bottom. The black water comes from the toilets and is discharged into a collecting tank by a vacuum system and then either treated and/or discharged into a black water tank in the double bottom.
One hydraulic capstans forward and one aft mounted in the centre line.

One emergency anchor with wire is installed and bollards and fairleads are
mounted for the normal fixed mooring.
One main and one emergency towing arrangement is installed in accordance with class- and national rules.
Special protection for deck house walls, doors, windows, etc. will be used during towing condition. Arrangement of protection to be approved by Classification Society. No extra protection for open water towing included.
Special attention is paid to easiest possible transport arrangements on the shore side for provisions, spare parts, catering, etc. All goods, will be lowered to the Lower deck by means of a travelling crane with a capacity of 3 tons and moved to its storage position by a pallet lifter.
Permanent lanterns for towing, anchorage and not under command are arranged. Lanterns for propan gas supply. Operation time of lantern is about one month without refilling of gas bottles.
The machinery rooms, located on Lower Deck, are of normal standard concerning main entrance, floors, emergency exits etc. Each room has two exits. One flush bolted hatch is provided for easy handling of larger machinery parts etc.
Emergency generator: One emergency diesel generator with automatic start for fire main supply, emergency lighting etc.
Workshop: Engine workshop is arranged with work benches, drilling machine, lathe, welding equipment, storage cabinets and shelves.
Boiler room: One boiler for hot water, calorifiers, F.W.-generator, Vacuum system, Sewage treatment plant and pumps. Ballast manifold and pumps.
Three diesel generators are installed of which one is stand-by. The diesel motors are intended to use marine diesel/gas oil. Each generator is arranged for parallel running.
Automatic starting, automatic synchronizing and load sharing system is provided for all generators.
Any generator is for stand-by operation.
Normal operation: All equipment for ventilation, heating, galley, sewage and auxliary machinery equipment in operating, load factor about 0.85. In lower temperture range, all generators may be running. Remote starting and stopping of diesel generators from engine room control panel and local starting and stopping is arranged. Daily service/settling tank for F.O. oil is installed, which is served directly by a small electric driven separator.
Diesel generators are installed with consideration to noise, vibration transmission
and easy maintenance. Pipes elastically connected.
Exhaust pipes from engine rooms are collected in one funnel. Each pipe is
insulated to reduce heat transmission and elastic supports are installed to
reduce to elongation.
Alarm systems for generator installation is arranged in engine room for L.O., exhaust, cooling etc. to safeguard proper service. Alarm sub-panels are installed in crew accommodation and reception. Failure alarms are provided for sanitary systems and connected to sub-panel.
The main lines, cabelling etc. on deck is arranged in cofferdams below the accommodation erection with deck penetrations in deck area above machinery rooms.
All piping in accommodation, vent, ducting and cables are built in with manholes for easy access, Main branches are routed in vertical pipe recesses with necessary valves, distribution boxes etc.
F.W.Cooling:
A low temperature, F.W.cooling/recirculation system is provided. Each diesel
has its own high temperature F.W. cooling system which is fitted with cooler
and individual thermo regulations.
Fire Fighting System:
A. Accommodation - The main fire fighting system with pumps and hydrants is
arranged in accordance with regulations. Intakes general in use are fitted
to seachests. Portable fire extinguishers, fire fighting equipment and fir-stations
are provided.
Sprinkler system in all accommodation rooms, with automatically release at 68 degr.C(155 degr.F). Automatic warning and identification of actual area.
B. Engine Room - For total flooding a Halon system is arrange. Romote control and indication panel for Halon system is placed in fire control centre.
Ballast system:
The ballast system will service 4 tanks forward and 4 tanks aft for trimming
purpose.
Bilge water system:
Bilge lines are arranged in engine room oiler room and incinerator room and
run to a bilge water tank. From this tank the bilge water can be run to a
shore connection or though a bilge water separator where the oil will be discharged
into a sludge tank and the water discharged either overboard or to the shore
connection.
Fuel oil system:
F.O. is transferred to service tank via a separator. F.O. supply lines are
fitted with changeable high grade filter arrangement.
Lub oil system:
Lub oil tank of sufficient size is installed (abt. 10 cam). Filling from bunker
station SB. Filling line to engines though self drain. Consumed oil is stored
in 9 sludge tanks for later discharge to bunker station via discharge pump.
Suitable piping and pumps for discharge to shore facilities of sludge and sewage are arranged. Easy accessible bunker station for fuel oil, lab oil and fresh water are provided on both SB and P-side, aft.
A reverse osmosis fresh water set with a total capacity of 100 cam/24 hrs is installed in the workshop and evaporator with a total capacity of abt. 100 cam/24 hrs is installed in the boiler room.

Electric main switch board is arranged in engine control room. Distribution centrals are located in suitable numbers throughout the Floating Hotel. Centrals in accommodation are located in the pipe recesses on each deck. Normal marine standard for lighting, sockets, etc are provided. Sockets for welding machine are provided in engine room workshop and on deck aft. In main switchboard layout preferential overload tripping functions of non-essential consumer are built in with remote alarm indication to both crew accommodation and reception office.
An emergency diesel generator (located in separate engine room on main deck SB aft) is used as an emergency source for fire pump, emergency lighting and fire alarm system. Diesel engine is provided with battery start with remote start and stop from fire control centre. Emergency batteries are provided with constant charging.
All spaces are fitted with lighting of fluorescent type. Distribution boxes for cabins are fitted with automatic fuses. Suitable number of sockets are arranged. Lamp sockets in shower rooms are equipped with shaver sockets.
Suitable flood lights are arranged for illumination of following places:
1. Foredeck with mooring equipment
2. Aft deck with mooring equipment and monorail area covering aft deck loading
area, SB-shipside and quayside and working boat embarkation area.
3. Gangways
4. Accommodation external bulk heads and funnel.
Outside passages are provided with normal marine lights enough to provided safe passages.
A PA-system is installed covering corridors, day rooms, restaurant, reception and changing rooms.
One electrically driven gantry crane is installed on the aft deck.

A number of lifebuoys are arranged along the Vessel side.
The Floating Hotel is arranged with safety signs for emergency exits, fire fighting equipment etc.
